Welcome to Kilkea Castle Hotel, Kildare
Built in 1180 by Hugh De Lacy and steeped in history and tradition, this is the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland. Set on its own extensive grounds the hotel retains all the splendours of its past. Kilkea Castle offers a mix of ancient and modern and the 36 charming bedrooms are individually designed with every modern amenity.
Facilities include a lounge and bar, and De Lacy's Restaurant which offers a blend of traditional and contemporary cuisine. The hotel also has a superb leisure centre with swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room. For sports enthusiasts, tennis, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and archery are available on the grounds as is an 18 hole golf course.
The golf course measuring 6,100 metres off the championship tee has been developed in this magnificent setting, beneath the shadow of the castle. It allows the splendour of the castle to be viewed from every fairway. The course designers have cleverly used the river Gresse as a natural hazard flowing through the castle grounds which is encountered at almost every hole. Kilkea Castle is one of Irelands best kept secrets.
